“Creation Myth in A Minor: Another Love Song”

Years ago I wrote a creation myth for a dance theatre piece. It was a fusion of two dance companies, The Blue Tribe African Dance Company and The Rhythm Cartel Step Company, and was one of many collaborations between myself and friend and colleague, Rujeko Dumbutshena.

I’ve written this suite to revisit the field of ‘creation myth as love story’, a way to blend past, present and future with multi-discplinary dance theatre vocabulary. This piece will lend itself well, also to film.

As I build the infrastructure for Bella Deluxe Entertainment, my production company, I look for ways to improve and redefine collaboration, both in the studio and across borders, as BD’s mission is to facilitate artful expression, to build bridges for people to share and to encourage international exchange.
